How to be productive when you feel tired due to lack of sleep: 6 tips

1. Listen to your body.

Every day of any person is an alternation of increase and decrease of energy. It is impossible to be constantly active throughout the working day. So, for better performance, you need to listen to your body and pause when your strength is exhausted.

Energy cycles are constantly changing, and, of course, in moments of sleep deprivation fluctuations will be more pronounced. In this case, do not resist fatigue and rest. To be energetic, find and get rid of the causes of your lack of sleep. Healthy sleep is the key to vigor and well-being.

2. Follow your daily routine.

When you wake up a couple of hours before your scheduled wake-up time, do not set the alarm five to ten minutes later. This can prevent you from coming to work on time. No matter how hard it is, get out of bed and follow your daily routine. After waking up, do exercises and prepare yourself a healthy breakfast. In case of fatigue, due to lack of sleep, it is better to replace coffee with a cup of green tea. Thanks to its antioxidants, this drink will significantly reduce cortisol levels and increase efficiency. Also, be sure to drink plenty of water to help you stay hydrated and be as attentive as possible.

3. Turn on the lights everywhere.

Morning light adds energy and relieves fatigue. So, the brighter the surroundings, the happier you will feel. Even on a cloudy day, when there are many clouds, it is better to spend 30 minutes outside than an hour in a well-lit room. If you can’t get out into the fresh air, try filling the surrounding space with light. Poor lighting has a negative effect on vision, leads to rapid fatigue, reduces efficiency and is the cause of insomnia.

4. Follow the technique of rapid breathing.

To quickly cheer up and increase your concentration, at least for a short time, try one simple breathing exercise of kapalabhati yoga. With your mouth closed, take a deep breath and exhale through your nose. Repeat the exercise two more times, but no longer than 15 seconds. Then, when you feel good, you can gradually start to increase the duration of the exercise, adding five seconds each time. This breathing technique stimulates energy and helps to increase efficiency.

5. Be very careful.

Lack of sleep has a negative effect on both physical and mental abilities. Thus, on days when you feel tired from lack of sleep, you need to be extremely careful with your actions and words. First, do not make any important and responsible decisions. At the time of fatigue, you will not be able to pay proper attention to all the details, and the probability of errors is greater than ever. In addition, during sleep deprivation, all your reflexes are reduced and the reaction worsens. Therefore, on such days it is better not to drive.

6. Take Artvigil and Waklert.

These medications are indirect dopamine receptor agonists that prevent the reuptake of this type of neurotransmitter, increasing its presence in the brain. This increases your wakefulness, clarity of thinking, and concentration which allows you to tackle and accomplish your tasks much more easily.
